My Sad Vodacom story
I feel a need to tell all who find this about Vodacom's bad service:
My daughter's phone stopped charging - it was about 3 months old. I thought no problem and took it into
Vodashop, de Ville Center, Durbanville. This phone had hardly been used and my daughter had really looked after it
- there was not a scratch on the phone. I finally got a quote for a small amount of R250 + vat - not covered under
warranty due to physical damage - now there is and was no physical damage on the phone that one could see. I tried
to reason with the guys but was told their technicians are very experienced at picking up physical damage. I entered a
comment on Hellopeter.com (an excellent website - see my links page) and Vodacom requested I resend it for a quote.
Once again told "physical damage". Back to hellopeter and finally got a
message from Dimakatso Motlhabani from Vodacom I quote -
This job in question was sent back to Vodacare in Tygervalley on the
19.02.2008, it was rebooked, assessed by a different technician and the
assessment finding were the same (system connector is physically damaged)
this fault is not covered under Manufacturers warranty - end quote
Ahhhh - news -
system connector is physically damaged - they never told me that
the first nor second time.....
Finally I now know what was wrong - I contacted Samsung (Samtech) and George -
a hell of a nice guy explained it to me - I quote -
If you plug the charge cable in the wrong way it can damage the connector. - end quote.
Samsung will now do the repairs and
I am happy to pay for something that is our mistake. Just wish Vodacom could have explained it
the way Samsung did.
I enquired about canceling our Vodacom contract and now they want R4500 odd to cancel a R135
per month contract 20 months
left - so I will wait my time and cancel when it does not cost me anything. Someone else can
get the R450+ a month I spend at Vodacom.
Will also port my pay as you go contracts (the kids and my internet access one) to someone else.
All that cause Vodacom cannot communicate properly......and were not prepared to listen esp
